Aging population reflection
What I found out

-I found out that restricting population growth will have many negative impacts in the Long run.
-it was introduced in 1979.
-I found out this was implemented to control the poupulation in a country.

Perceptions I gained
-there will be less competition in school and for jobs in the society.
-the children will have many opportunities for better quality education/healthcare.

Question
-why would the people want to have so many children in the first place?

Why you think Singaore must not be complacent in her achievements.

Today, Singapore might be prosperous and have a lot of achievements, but it should not be complacent. Singapore does not rank first in everything in the world. There will obviously be some areas Singapore thrive in while some Singapore don't do well in. Thus, if we become complacent, there will be no room for improvement as we would have a Sino-centric world view and think that Singapore was the most important and powerful country in the world. Thus we would not want to learn from the outside world and before Long, we would not continue to prosper, and others will catch up with Singapore.
If we become complacent, countries like China will overtake us very easily. An example: Singapore handled 33.9 million 20-foot containers last year, according to a statement posted on the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore’s website dated Jan. 16. Last month, Shanghai said it expects to process about 35.2 million boxes in 2014. A year before, the GAP between the two ports was about 1 million boxes.

In conclusion, Singapore's economy would drop rapidly if we became complacent. Little improvement of our country Singapore will be shown, thus we must not be complacent in our achievements.

Graded Chingay reflection

This year, our school drought us to watch the Chingay Parade at the F1 Pit.

The purpose of having chingay is to mark the first step in our journey to SG 100, after our milestone SG50 celebrations where Singaporeans from diverse backgrounds come together to celebrate core values important to Singapore. Together, we celebrate this values that have transformed us from a fishing village into a modern metropolis and bring us forward into the future with confidence. This year's Chingay theme is "lights of legacy, brighter Singapore". As the theme suggests, chingay 2016 will be the brightest ever with the biggest full-scale illuminated show. The theme is also inspired by the legacy of our founding prime minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew, and the values embodied by our pioneers such as Racial Harmony and Social Cohesion. Etc.

The first Chingay was on 4th February 1973. The then-prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, the chairman of the people association send Chingay to compensate for the ban on firecrackers a customary New Year practised drive way evil spirits with its noise and gaiety. The first Chingay performance was so successful that it was made an annual performance. In the 1970s, performers were only limited to local ones.

However, this year, there are 14 international groups from 9 countries participating in Chingay. Some of these performances were put up by the Japanese Association of Singapore, Si Hai Meng Xun from China, Indonesia, Russia, South Korea and Vietnam. Each performing group put up a wonderful performance. This allows the Singaporeans to have a deeper understanding about the cultures of another country.

Celebrating Chingay also lets us understand the core values our pioneers had while building Singapore to a successful country.

The costumes of the performers were colourful and bright, showing they have the spirit of a brighter Singapore. We also made cubes its drawing of our future Singapore. I think this is very meaningful as we can predict what future we might have and work toward it, proving a bright future.

In all, I think Organisers have successfully fulfilled the purpose of having chingay. A large amount of effort have been put in for Chingay to be successful. This shows that we have the potential to shine as Long as we put our heart into something.

REFELCTION 3: Does being rich means being happy?

In my opinion, I do not think that Being rich means being happy. Even if we have all the money in the world, we still might not be happy as money cannot buy us happiness. Money is just a short term satisfaction and not happiness. Money cannot buy us contentment in our lifes. Singapore might be prosperous, but we might not be happy as we might not be contented in our lifes. We might be rich, but if we have problems such as cancer, it is incurable. We cannot cure cancer at this stage no matter if we have billions of dollars. Isn't it better to leave a normal life with no cancer? Won't it be better and more content. Thus, I can say that money does not bring us happiness.

REFLECTION 2: RV60

After being in the RV60, I am very honoured to be a Rvian. The RV spirit is so strong.
After practising for 2 months, I am very exhausted but all the hard work has paid off as the RV60 was a success.

However I am very angry that there are a lot of slackers who did not attend the RV60 rehearsals, thus resulting in them not doing their best in the real performance. Even though many of us complained that it was very time consuming and exhausting. We persevered and continued to learn and memorise everything we need. We must attend and do everything we can for RV60 as it is our school. Nobody can do anything except for us. The school had helped us and it's time to repay it.

RV60 is very important as we it is the diamond jubilee and it proves that RVians have the RV spirit. Rvians through the centuries, we must unite to one RV.

SELF INTRODUCTION

Hello Mr Wong, I am Li Ming Yang. I am a year 2 this year studying in River Valley High School. My favourite hobbies are reading and sleeping. I find it really nice as I get to gain knowledge and rest my body. I love CID, Math and Science, but I can't do well in any except for CID. I hate Geography and Chinese. I hate studying as it is very tiring. On weekends, I will always go jogging with my parents so as to stay fit. I love playing games like Vainglory as it reduces stress and let's me relax. I really look forward to this year's OELP. My new year's resolution for this year is to improve on math and science so my gpa can be higher.i really love eating ice cream, as it is very cooling and the feeling of eating it is great. I really hope I can have lesser cmd this yr like maybe 2 to 3 . When I grow up I want to be a inventor, so that I can make a spaceship that carries everyone on earth to another planet like earth in another universe or dimension, so that humans will not be extinct. To achieve I need to understand physics, but my physics currently is not very good. That's all! Thank you for reading!

This picture shows the finale in the RV60 performance. It had finally reached the end of RV60. We had worked so hard to make the performance a success. Weeks after weeks we practised until finally, it reached this day. Even though the training sessions were Long and arduous, we did not give up. We practised and practised and went for every rehearsal that we could, making RV60 a fruitful one. I was In the 24 festive drums section. We had training almost every week, and most of us came, even though they thought it was a waste of time. But, we knew that we had to come so as to repay River Valley for helping us in our academic and non-academic results and everything.
